CONGRESS HEARS PLEA FOR NATIVE AMERICAN HELP, RESPONDS

This news just in... The stimulus bill includes $2.8 Billion to help Native Americans in economic recovery.

http://www.indiancountrytoday.com/home/content/38694392.html

A couple of posts ago, I asked readers to write, call, email their Congressional representatives on behalf of the forgotten Native Americans. On their behalf, thanks for your overwhelming response.

Now all we have to do is to hope and pray that the bill does not fall victim to pending cuts.

IS AMERICA READY FOR WAR WITH MEXICO?

We have our military spread out pretty thin... Iraq, Afghanistan, Germany, England, France, Japan, Spain...

Just to the south of our border is a nation full of more corruption than we have, (if you can believe that), beleaguered by drug wars and plagued by poverty. Their government is so fragile that there is every possibility, even probability, that Mexico will plunge into anarchy sometime this year. When that happens, hundreds of thousands... or even tens of millions...of Mexicans are going to be heading north, with drug lords probably hot on their trails.

Are we ready for this? With all of our troops overseas and our bank accounts about to run dry after Congress tosses another $825 billion + pork down the toilet, how are we going to deal with this massive influx of humanity that will need medical attention, shelter, clothing and food? And, how are we going to fight the crime and street fighting that will inevitably come with it?

That'll be a great opportunity for terrorists to strike again, won't it?

We are embarking upon dangerous times, indeed.

THE FORGOTTEN CITIZENS: A NATIVE AMERICAN TRAGEDY

I think it really got ugly when the United States Calvary put a $200 bounty on the head of any Indian in Nevada. Over in California, Indians were rounded up and herded off to San Francisco with the promise of a better life; many were slaughtered, others were put into servitude and by the time they got back to their native lands several decades later, they found out they had been stripped of their heritage, culture, and timber.

Today, we visualize them as being filthy rich casino moguls, playing on American greed, and we pat ourselves on the back and say, "Well, after what we did to them, they deserve a break."

But, here are the facts. Only a few Native casinos are making significant money; many are losing propositions and those tribes who own them are in a sea of red ink. Not every tribe owns a casino. In fact, countless tribes across the country have no economic development at all, either because their land bases are too small or remote, or because they have never been able to accumulate enough money and education to get anything started.

When you go out there onto "the rez," you see government buildings with leaky roofs and that haven't been painted or properly maintained since the day they were built, forty or fifty years ago. You see countless houses with plywood over broken windows that no one could afford to repair, surrounded by yards full of junk cars that no one can afford to have hauled away. In IHS hospitals, you find hundreds of human beings suffering from maladies that cannot be treated because IHS doesn't have enough money while, on the other hand, illegal immigrant criminals who land in American jails get full medical benefits.

Every year, the Federal Government has systematically been decreasing the funding for IHS and BIA activities, resulting in tribes being on the short end of the human social services stick. Education, the key to breaking away from a poverty rate above 50%, has also been cut, cut, cut.

Now, the Congress is hell-bent on giving hundreds of billions of dollars away to the fat cats because the fat cats are having to eat beans one night a week. Congress is willing to mortgage the future of our children and grandchildren in order to bail those fat cats out of their short-sighted ways, and Congress wants to cut some more from the IHS and BIA budgets while they do it.

There are children with empty stomachs running down the unpaved streets on their way to desparity and depression, and Congress is turning its collective back and a blind eye to the problem.

As an American, I ask for your help on behalf of these people. Write, wire, phone your Congressional representatives today. Interrupt their drunken stupors just long enough to ask them to add $3 billion to help Native Americans instead of adding $10 billion to build a bridge to nowhere.

Otherwise, we are still to blame for this national tragedy.

MEDIA: HEZBOLLAH, HAMAS INNOCENT

The media is tainting the news again. In some cases, it is more subtle than others. You'll catch it in the way they ask questions of Israeli representatives and Palestinian representatives. The innuendos almost lead to the answers that the "reporters" are seeking.

The bottom line here is that the media would like us to believe that Israel is in the wrong. "Why haven't you followed the peace accord?" they ask. Then, they almost cut off the answer, "Why don't THEY follow it?"

Hamas has been tossing missiles and rockets into Israel with alarming frequency for several years. How long would you put up with your neighbor throwing dog crap over his his fence and into your bedroom window before you did something about it? The United Nations, so-called peace maker of the Earth, has been turning a blind eye toward the matter. If the cops don't show up to arrest your neighbor, are you eventually going to throw the dog shit back, along with everything else you can get your hands on? Maybe you'll just go over there and beat the tar out of him?

The media makes a big major point about how Israel is trying to ignore calls for cease fire, about the rocket that hit a school. They make no mention of the indiscriminate and unprovoked Hamas rocket attacks that have been killing innocent Israelis on a daily basis for years.

Our Constitution, for valid reasons, protects the freedom of the press. With that freedom, the press has a responsibility to us, the American citizens, to report objectively and fairly. When they violate that responsibility, they violate the purpose and intent of the law, and we need to find a way to hold them accountable.

FRANKFARTER, REID AND PELOSI (FRAP) HAVE BIG BUNS!

Obama is talking about a $5 trillion additional "economic stimulus package." Now, I think he has in mind giving US $300 billion of that to get us smiling and in a good mood so we'll go buy, buy. " Maybe he thinks that we won't worry at all about the $5 trillion plus the $1.5 trillion already spent in economic bailouts that we're going to have to pay back...plus interest.

They probably also think that we'll feel so guilty about taking the $300 billion that we'll forget that the real blame for this whole mess belongs with them. Reid is so ecstatic that he's even going to let Burris have his appointed Illinois Senate seat!

But, when the bill comes due for all of this, FRAP are all going to be retired so we can't get angry at them anyway.

FRAP, FRAP, how sweet.
