JUST WHO'S TO BLAME FOR NAMING MUELLER ANYWAY?

That question has been nagging at me for weeks now.  The original stories say that the "Justice Department named..." and when we drill down into that, we come up with Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein as the chief culprit.

Rosenstein claims to be a Republican.  So, why would he name Robert Mueller as the Special Prosecutor in the Trump-Russian investigation, when he knew of the relationship between Comey and Mueller?  And why would he allow Mueller to expand the scope of the investigation to include obstruction of justice against Trump as well as business dealings of Jared Kushner?  Furthermore, why would he tolerate Mueller's naming of top Democratic investigators to the team, including one who worked for the Clintons?  Even if all that was legitimate, the appearances don't look too good.

Why?

Is it coincidental that Rosenstein served as U.S. District Attorney for the State of Maryland or that he was a nominee to the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals, the second most liberal court in all the land?  Is it a coincidence that he was Counsel to Deputy Attorney General Philip B. Heymann and Special Assistant to Criminal Division Assistant Attorney General Jo Ann Harris during the Clinton Administration?  Is it a coincidence that Rosenstein was the chief engineer behind the firing of James Comey and that Trump is now being investigated for obstruction of justice over the same exact firing?

Is it?

Somehow, this whole shenanigan smells an awful lot like a dead whale.
