BUNDY FINALLY WINS

Rancher Cliven Bundy from Bunkerville, Nevada has won his case.  But, justice has not really been done.

The Bureau of Land Management and the Federal Bureau of Investigation have been persecuting Bundy for decades; they've done everything possible to force him off of his ranch.  Their attempts led to a huge standoff in the desert in 2014 with hundreds of agents surrounding his land in an armed standoff against Bundy and his rancher friends.  Bundy and his sons were eventually arrested and hauled off to jail, charged with numerous felonies.

What was not reported widely in the press was that Harry Reid appeared to be the motivating force behind the anti-Bundy move.  Bundy had been grazing his ranch and surrounding lands for years, even before the BLM unilaterally took over the lands claiming that they needed to protect the fragile desert wildlife and grasses from "over grazing."  Then along came some Chinese investors who were looking for land to start a solar energy project and they were steered to the Bundy Ranch and surrounding BLM lands.  By some "coincidence," they hired Reid's lawyer son to make it happen.

When the case eventually came to trial last year, it became evident that federal prosecutors had been hiding key evidence in the case from defense attorneys.  U.S. District Judge Gloria Navarro was livid and has just thrown the case out of court.  She had earlier suspended the trial and warned of a mistrial when prosecutors released information after a discovery deadline.  Overall, the government was late in handing over more than 3,300 pages of documents. Further, some defense requests for information that ultimately came to light had been ridiculed by prosecutors as “fantastical” and a “fishing expedition.”

Stop and think about it: Bundy spent over 700 days in jail.  He spent tons of money on legal fees for himself and his sons.  But the federal government didn't even get its wrists slapped.  It is totally unjust and wrong.  Those who participated in these events should go to jail themselves.  The days when the government can ride roughshod over Americans and get away with it have simply got to end.
