WE are the government of the United States of America. What goes wrong or right in this country is OUR fault, and nobody else's.
So, when we look with disdain upon what has been happening in Washington over the last 19 years since Reagan, and when we say that Congress isn't doing it's job and Congress is too busy with partisan politics... When we point our finger at a President and complain about the way he is running the country..... We are really trying to shift the blame from ourselves to them.
But, WE are to blame.
The time has come when we have to come to grips with reality. And, the reality is that we, as empowered citizens of this country, can no longer afford the luxury of electing someone to office and then ignoring what he or she does. That is, we need to use our resources as Americans, and we do have a lot more of them with the Internet, to find out exactly what the people we elect are doing in Washington.
The time has come for us to hold them accountable for standing up for the principles they espoused to us in the campaign circuit.... to pay attention to how they are conducting business... our business... in Washington.
Who in their right mind would want to run for the Presidency or Congress if they have sound principles and good ideas.... and their constituencies won't pay attention to what is going on in Washington and back them up? So, the good guys don't run and the bad guys do, and what choice does that leave us with?
We have no one to blame but ourselves, and we need to do something about it. As Americans, we need to step up to the plate.
Now.
