One of the bastions of "the Washington establishment," Senator John McCain, came out strongly against Donald Trump's "America First" policy yesterday, insisting that our duty as a nation should be to the international community instead. "To abandon the ideals we have advanced around the globe, to refuse the
obligations of international leadership for the sake of some half-baked,
spurious nationalism cooked up by people who would rather find
scapegoats than solve problems," he said, "is as unpatriotic as an
attachment to any other tired dogma of the past that Americans consigned
to the ash heap of history."
Anybody who knows anything about the realities of life knows that you can't take care of others unless and until you take care of yourself. It's because of idiots like him that we have such a vast number of people in this country who are homeless, hungry, without adequate shelter and clothing and not receiving proper medical care while at the same time we send billions of dollars to overseas countries, many of which would just as soon spit on us as look at us.
Condescending, elitist dinosaurs like him need to be removed from our government, regardless of political party. That's the message we sent in November of 2016 and it needs to be hammered home again in November of 2018.
They are to blame; not us.
