SPECIAL POST
You have GPS in your car. You have a separate GPS handheld device. You have a cell phone. You have a laptop with internet access. You have a desktop computer with internet access. You have credit cards. You have a checking account and a savings account.
I, an obscure government agent in an obscure government office, a person you did not even know exists, can now determine:
- Your income and the income of your spouse
- What you bought at Wal-Mart
- Where you were at 11:45 AM yesterday
- Who you were talking with on your cell phone at that time
- What you were browsing on the internet at that time
- How much you spent for lunch and how many people were in your party
- How much you spent on sexual aids last month
- Whether you spent more than you took in last month
- If you have a secret lover
- Whether or not you take medications for bowel problems
- And so very much more.
Yasir Afifi, a 20-year-old computer salesman and college student, took his car in for an oil change and his mechanic spotted an odd wire hanging from the undercarriage. That led to the discovery of a GPS monitoring device. Granted, one could assume by the name that he could be a middle-eastern terrorist, but no such connection had been made. The Federal government asserted in court that the device was not subject to the wiretapping laws.
Several months ago, thousands of websites and blogs were summarily shut down without notice and without court order by the federal government and all news regarding this event was immediately blacked out.
How safe do you feel with our government?
Who are you going to vote for in November?
