Al Qaeda and their affiliates have succeeded in making a lot of noise about what they intend to do at the Winter Olympics. To be sure, they seem to be attracted to major events and the Olympic games are no stranger to terrorism; neither is Russia. What's disturbing is that the Administration and the State Department are running around like little Chicken Littles screaming that the Olympic games are going to be attacked and the Russians don't know what they are doing.
In other words, these donkeys are giving voice to terrorist intent. Why aren't they concentrating on doing something proactive about it?
As it is, I doubt that the terrorists are shaking in their boots afraid of what will happened to them if they succeed, especially considering how we have not handled Benghazi. Putin takes Obama for a jerk and Russia is afraid to accept our intelligence because they can't trust it; our allies are remaining aloof for the same reason.
We need to let Putin do his thing. We offered, he declined, so the ball is in his court. In the meantime, we should concentrate on making sure that our airplanes going to and from the games are safe. And we should be taking a close look at the people themselves who are going to and from the games, lest terrorist acts originate on our shores; I mean, how do we know that a terrorist or two hasn't flown to the U.S. as an indirect means of getting into Russia?
If something does happen and it happens to American athletes or enthusiasts, have no one to blame but ourselves. It is we, the people, who elected and reelected a President, who by his actions and lack of actions has caused the rest of the world to shun us.
