LET'S HELP OBAMA WITH HIS PLANS FOR CHANGE

1. We all know that Congress is to blame for too many of our ills. Let's start planning now to vote out everyone who is not a freshman senator or Congressman in the 20010 off-year elections. We can spend 2009 identifying good candidates and getting them ready to run.

2. At the same time, we need to replace every top-level policy-maker in Washington. Let's look inside each agency and identify them and make plans now to furlough them out.

3. Illegal immigrants are costing this country too much money. Here we are on the verge of national bankruptcy and no one is willing to come to grips with the problem. Let's solve it for them and buy them all one-way bus tickets back home.

4. We're at the mercy of foreign governments for energy. Right now, the price is down, but we need to make it a national priority to remove our dependence.

5. Let's give the media 12 months to clean up their act by creating a self regulatory body to enforce the rules of good journalistic reporting. If they don't, we'll make it a government agency.

6. Nuke Syria. That will directly take care of that problem and should convince Iran, North Korea and Russia to backoff as well.

THE ICONOCLASTS ARE TO BLAME

As a believer in God and as a Christian faced with the "in the face" adversity of atheists and iconoclasts, I find the allowance of actions that belittle my faith or which attack the integrity of my belief to be patently offensive. I do not attack Muslims, Jews, Buddhists or even atheists for their beliefs, and I find it intolerable that the government of this country allows them to attack mine by denying my right to display, to voice, or to express my beliefs as they have the right to do.

The Grogoire's of this country who obviously have no beliefs except those that are antagonistic to mine deserve no place in American society. If there is any one to blame for the decline of America, it is they who undermine the very fabric of our country by chipping away at its fundamental beliefs, freedoms, religions, and rights. And those who allow this conduct to continue are equally to blame.

I would suspect that, deep down in their souls, they fear the day of their death and the judgments they will have to face.

And, it's way past the time when those who agree with what I have to say should be standing up for THEIR beliefs.

DETROIT IS NOT TOTALLY TO BLAME: Barney Frankfarter Is

I have to say that Detroit and their unions and suppliers do deserve a lot of blame. But, the real blame belongs with Barney Frank.

Frank's committee, the House Financial Services Oversight Committee, not only allowed the housing and financial crisis to happen, they encouraged it! You and I both know that to be true. And, when the FreddieMac FannieMae walls came tumbling down, that precipitated our current American financial crisis as well as that of the rest of the world. And there he still sits, chairing that great omnipotent committee, and looking down his spectacular nose in pious condescension while telling us we have to pony up more money, more money, more money.

Well, Mr. & Mrs. America, what are you going to do about it?

LET'S JUST GIVE UP ON OUR COUNTRY; Who Cares?

I'm reading a letter from my insurance provider. It's a six-page letter telling me how California law now requires that companies doing business in the state MUST provide their customers with interpreters. The letter was written in English, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese. Presumably, the company must also provide language assistance in Yiddish, Haitian, French, German, Latin, Indian, Russian..... as well as Navajo, Paiute, Apache and so forth. If they don't, that's blatant and open discrimination fostered by the State of California. Maybe we should just go back to speaking English. On the other hand, who cares?

The public outrage over illegal immigration seems to be a dead issue in Congress. But, who cares?

Nancy, Harry and Barack now want to give away another $500 billion of our money. Yes, we were flat outraged over that just a few weeks ago, but who cares today?

All of these issues that we Americans have been courageously taking a stand on.... no longer exist. At least, no one is talking about them, so who cares?

You know, that's what we pay those guys in Washington to do.... and whatever they decide should be fine with us. We are fretting about it, getting high blood pressure over it, and who cares?

CHRISTMAS SHOPPING? Forget It!

I'm hanging on to what little money I have.

The Congress has already mortgaged my children's future and part of my grandchildren's. Now, they're bound and determined to drag my great-grandchildren into the debt as well. Congress was the oversight in charge of Bear-Stearns, Lehman Brothers, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, CitiBank, Detroit, and the multitude of financial garbage yet to fall out of the truck

The stockmarket plunge has wiped out hundreds of thousands of retirement accounts. No one can sell a house for anywhere near what it is supposedly worth. Unemployment is skyrocketing. The new President is going to allow Bush tax cuts to expire, thereby raising taxes for everyone and making the squeeze even worse. Why they think we're going to spend anything on Thanksgiving and Christmas gifts is beyond me. I have to hang on to what little I have left and pray daily that it won't evaporate like everything else has.

Heck, we might as well print a ton of money like Germany did; we're all going down the tubes, anyway. Yes, we're smack-dab in the middle of an economic disaster area, but I frankly don't care if Macy's, Staples, Mervyns and Starbucks close their doors because of it. As for me, I'm not spending spit on shit.

THE BAILOUT FIASCO: Why You Are To Blame

The Nation went berserk. Congress had just passed the $700 billion bailout package and EVERYONE was ticked off.

On all of my websites, I urged, practically demanded, that the nation vote out every Congressman and Senator up for reelection.

You didn’t. Basically, the only seats that changed hands were those that were being vacated anyway.

Now, Congress is poised to pass another $300 billion to $500 billion. Now, it wants to bailout the auto industry and Treasury wants to change the rules for the first $700 billion, while the money already spent has not done one thing to slow down the plunge of the national economy. Not one.

Once again, the nation is in an uproar.

I don’t want to hear it. I voted against MY Congressman. I upheld MY duties as an American. The rest of the country, obviously, did not.

You are getting what you wanted, what you voted for.

So, just shut up, quit your whining and get busy writing letters to your grandchildren explaining why you allowed their poor financial souls to be mortgaged beyond reason.

HOW TO CIRCUMVENT 2ND AMENDMENT RIGHTS

There is also a law pending in California that would require anyone who buys or sells more than 50 rounds of ammunition in any one month must have a state license to do so. That law passed the senate by an overwhelming majority. The state assembly, faced with raging anger on the part of gun owners and ammunition shops, decided not to vote on it until After the Presidential election.

Now that Obama, an anti-gun activist, has been elected President, sales of ammunition And guns in California has skyrocketed because everyone wants to get theirs before the California legislature finishes passing the law.

As one state senator says, "We know that the likelihood of the U.S. Supreme Court overturning it is now greatly diminished."

"WE" DID NOT GET OURSELVES INTO "THIS MESS"

Over and over again on November 4th, I heard the pundits and the members of Congress refer to one of the major factors in the election as being the financial debacle of 2008. Further in the vein of thought, the discussion inevitably led to the statement, "We got ourselves into this mess and we will have to dig ourselves out of it."

That is an outright lie. I had nothing to do with it and neither did my friends, neighbors or relatives; but every member of Congress and half of the Administration DID.

The methodology of convincing US to smile as we hoist these burdens onto OUR backs is to switch the blame from THEM to US through the use of the word WE.

Sometimes, I feel as if we truly are a nation of EWES being chased around the corral by a whole bunch of horny old THEMS.

What came out Friday the 24th that has been buried in the media is that 13 employees of the Obama campaign and one McCain staffer had already voted in Ohio and, when challenged by a prosecutor, they withdrew their votes and their registrations because they were fraudulent!

In Pennsylvania, up to 200,000 registrations have been canceled for for various reasons... including 50,000 legitemate first-time voters moving into the state!

Tens of thousands of military absentee ballots are also being tossed into the trash on the basis of "technicalities."

One thing is for certain: there’s not much room left under the bus. Over in one corner you’ll find Jeremiah Wright licking his wounds. He’s the guy who was “like a father” to Barack, remember? For twenty years, Barry and Michelle sat in one of the front pews and dutifully put their fingers in their ears whenever Jeremiah spoke. He ministered to their every need and was there to marry Barry and Michelle and to baptize their children. He was slated to be a most important part of the Obama campaign machine, but the nation cried out when he damned America in God’s name, and Jeremiah is now under the bus, a lonely, dusty and forgotten man who, most certainly, would not be welcomed in the Obama household under any circumstances.

Further under the bus, you’ll discover the man who proclaimed to the world that Barack Hussein Obama is the true Messiah, here to save the blacks and the downtrodden from their miseries. Louis Farrakhan, leader of the radical Nation of Islam, recently named winner of the Jeremiah Wright “Trumpet Award” because of his greatness, the guy who says that the holocaust was contrived by the Jews, lies under the bus in a disheveled heap. Not that the consummate leader of the American anti-Semitism movement has had his views refuted by has former pal Barry; far from it, Barry pointedly kept his silence on the issue until his political back was to the wall.

Not far from Farrakhan, there squats Tony Rezko. Obama was his attorney in some questionable land development schemes. Rezko supported Obama when he ran for the Illinois State Senate. In 2003, when Obama decided to run for the U.S. Senate, Rezko held a campaign kick-off and fundraising party at his mansion. A few months after Obama won his Senate seat, money moved from one Nadhmi Auchi to Rezko and both Rezko’s wife and Obama ended up buying adjoining land on the same day; Obama’s was his new house, Rezko’s was a “garden plot.” Later, as Rezko was under indictment, Obama purchased part of the “garden plot” to add to his own property, in a deal that is currently under banking investigation amid allegations that the land appraisal was “doctored.” Now, Rezko is “under the bus,” or should I say in jail, totally disassociated from Obama.

Rashid Khalidi, an avid pro-Palestinian supporter, got $75,000 from Obama and William “Bill” Ayers and the Woods Foundation. Later, Khalidi hosted a fundraiser for Obama, and still later, while the Obamas were frequent dinner guest with the Khalidi family, Obama gave him a totally warm send off as he was preparing to leave Chicago for New York. Khalidi even sponsored a page of Obama’s Presidential Campaign website. When pressed about his relationship with Khalidi, Obama denied the relationship and threw Khalidi under the bus with the rest of the boys. He also is no longer welcomed in the Obama household, even if he brings dessert.

Nadhmi Auchi is one of Britain’s wealthiest men with a longest list of shady associations and deals and who has extensive ties to Saddam Hussein, who he helped bring to power. Auchi is a convicted felon in France. Auchi yielded great power over Rezko. Auchi was the source of a very large sum of money which went to Rezko just before Rezko and Obama made their great land deal. One Joseph Aramanda Sr., an associate of Rezko, reportedly received a $375,000 kickback in the deal. As a side note of interest, the land and Obama’s house were purchased from a Chicago doctor for…. $375,000 less than the asking price. And there sits Nadhmi under the bus with the rest of the Obama Fan Club.

Obama denied ever knowing Joseph Aramanda Sr., who was a New England real estate developer who ended up in close association with Rezko. Nevertheless, Aramanda’s son, Joseph Jr., just happened to be clerking in Obama’s Chicago law office, personally hired by good old Barry. Senior is way, way under the bus, having died during the Rezko investigations.

Now comes the infamous Bill Ayers, husband of Bernadine Dohrn. Together, they were quite an item in the Weathermen Underground when they bombed the World Trade Center. Unrepentant Ayers has many times said he wished and still wishes he could have done more. Dohrn was employed at the Chicago Law Firm where Michelle L. Robinson was employed and where, as a matter of further coincidence, Barack Obama became employed. This nice and cozy relationship blossomed over the years with Bill Ayers serving on several committees and boards along with Rezko and/or Obama. Upon learning of Obama’s decision to enter politics, Ayers and Dohrn hosted a party at their house to kick off the political journey that has led Obama to the brink of the Presidency. Although he had previously admitted it and although that party is well documented in several major newspapers, Obama denied that the party ever occurred during the last televised McCain-Obama debate. So, there sits Big Bad Billy under the bus and, as you can see, there’s not much room remaining under that bus.

ACORN, ACORN, ACORN. Barry was their attorney. Barry volunteered to teach them how to force banks into providing loans to otherwise unqualified borrowers. Barry worked with them on an effort to get Illinois to go along with voter registration at the motor vehicles department. As a community organizer, he taught them how to take to the streets and sign people up for registration, a critical element in his campaign success when he ran for the Illinois State Senate. He’s on record as telling ACORN that he will work closely with them after he is elected, and leaders of ACORN are on video showing firm support for Obama, although they are funded with Federal dollars which are not supposed to be used for political purposes. Obama denied having any further relationship with them during the McCain-Obama debate, but never did respond to McCain’s statement that he knew, as a matter of fact, that Obama had recently paid $800,000 to an affiliate of ACORN for staging and lighting work. That memo was later changed to reflect that the work was done for advance political setups after the Federal Election Commission questioned it. And, when the issue of voter registration fraud came out, Obama turned as white as a sheet, (and you can take from that play on words whatever you will). Now, ACORN is now being tossed under the bus.

Obviously, the Obamas and Barry in particular have had some long, meaningful relationships with a whole lot of people who are under the bus. Their reaction, when initially questioned about these relationships, has always eventually progressed from “I don’t know who you are talking about,” to “I had no idea about their backgrounds or beliefs. Really!” And, when the heat turned up and damage to the campaign became evident, the spot under the bus always got more crowded.

Now, we Americans have never had a relationship with Obama. How long do you think it’s going to take for him to throw US….under the bus? Well, at least we'll have a chance to meet Joe, the Plumber. Uh, oh. Don't talk to that guy in the back of the underside of the bus! That's "Big Mouth" Joe Biden! Oh, my GOD! There's "Big Mouth" Michelle Obama, sitting right next to him! I thought she was home taking care of the kids?!!

AMERICA IS IN GRAVE PERIL: Two Alarming and Foreboding Updates

OBAMA’S STONE WALL COMING APART AT THE SEAMS – Barack Hussein Obama’s stonewalling about his past associations and about his intentions for the country is crumbling. Not only are his past refusals to “come clean” regarding his and Michelle’s associations with Rev. Wright, Bill Ayers, Larry Farrakhan, Tony Resko and others, on October 12^th, Obama told an audience member, "It's not that I want to punish your success. I just want to make sure that everybody who is behind you, that they've got a chance for success too. My attitude is that if the economy's good for folks from the bottom up, it's gonna be good for everybody ... I think when you spread the wealth around, it's good for everybody..." that he thinks we need to redistribute some of the wealth. This was in response to a question about whether or not a plumber was going to see his taxes going up. In other words, Obama is suggesting that he knows where your hard-earned money should go better than you do and he’s not going to give you the option of making a choice. This is clearly a Socialist-Marxist agenda destined for Communism in the United States.

But, that’s not his only refusal to “come clean;” ACORN is rearing its ugly head regarding this year’s election. A recent posting on the Obama campaign website stated that Obama was never associated with ACORN in any capacity whatever. However, it is well known that Obama was their attorney on at least one legal case and that he was a volunteer who taught ACORN how to put pressure in banks to force them into giving loans to unqualified home buyers. Additionally, he was involved in association with ACORN in 1992 in creation of “PROJECT VOTE.”

On October 14^th, Obama finally admitted his past associations with ACORN, but flatly denied having any association with ACORN regarding this year’s Presidential campaign. Nevertheless, records indicate that his campaign directly paid $800,000 to a “subsidiary” of ACORN, Citizens Services, to “get the voters out” in Ohio and several other states during the primaries. Obama’s campaign flagrantly misled the Federal Election Commission by stating that the $800,000 was for “staging and lighting” services..... ACORN stands accused of allowing tens of thousands of duplicate and illegal voter registrations to occur in several states.

PAULSON LIES AND MIS-STEPS

In addition to many other statements Henry “Hank” Paulson has made regarding the country’s financial crisis, he vowed as recently as two weeks ago that no United States money would be used to buy into American banks. Paulson stated that his reasoning was that Japan had tried it and not only did the effort fail, it caused the Japanese economy great harm. Nevertheless, Paulson is investing a substantial portion of the $700 billion bailout package in purchasing equity positions in U.S. banks and is requiring banks that don’t need the investment to take it anyway because the government does not want the American public to know which banks are actually in jeopardy.

This move places our government, which is not supposed to own any businesses at all, in ownership or equity positions in investment companies, banking companies, insurance companies and mortgage companies, plus…holding companies?

These moves, just before the November elections, place this country with the prospect of having its elections rigged and being summarily dumped into outright socialism.

In my opinion, it is of utmost urgency that you forward this information and/or website to everyone you know.

THE UGLY NEWS GOES ON AND ON: WE KNOW WHO TO BLAME

Barely mentioned as yesterday ended, the Feds are shoving another $38 billion into AIG's treasury. This news comes just after we learned about the lavish $440,000 party AIG execs threw in Monarch Beach, Calfornia after they got the last $85 billion.

Yes, they're having another celebration party in Half Moon Bay next week.

And...Another bank goes down, one of the oldest in the country.

AGAIN! AND AGAIN! AND AGAIN!

FALLOUT FROM THE EXPLOSION OF A BLAMELESS SOCIETY

While the American financial house of cards was crumbling around them, executives of AIG were in an exclusive California coastal resort blowing $450,000 of the $85 billion bailout money that you and I got on the hook for. After all, they weren’t to blame.

Within days, the Congress of the United States, seemingly oblivious to the uproar that 78% of the American citizens were creating against it, passed a bill to infuse an additional $700 billion into the decimated housing financial markets. Fueling the fire despite a 9% national approval rating, the lowest in U.S. History, the Congress tacked on at least $20 billion more in pure pork, (they are still tallying the total). They then spent the first weekend in October crafting glib letters to us, their constituents to tell us why Members of Congress should be considered national heroes for saving us from the disaster of their own making. After all, as they pointed out, they weren’t to blame.

The regulators, led by financial genius Hank Paulson, pointed out that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac had created an environment where the investment market and the banks were forced to play the game with those in Congress who wanted to help the poor and unqualified buy homes. Treasury waited until the last possible moment to fess up to the American people that the scheme was in big trouble, and then demanded that Congress fork over $700 billion… or else. After all, they weren’t to blame. But, they assured us, as did the magpie Congress that the bailout would prevent the stock market from collapsing and everything would be rosy. As soon as the bailout bill passed, however, the President and everyone else involved started talking about “the rough waters ahead.” The market, of course, promptly plummeted.

Talk in Washington immediately got on to more important things. If those people who got those loans that they should not have received weren’t making their payments, it was reasoned that they needed help. Cutting their interest rates and their principal payments would surely resolve the problem, or would it? If they’re not working, it doesn’t matter how much you cut the interest and principal, they still can’t pay. But, the argument is, they’re not to blame. They’re innocent victims. How would they know whether not they could afford the payments in the first place? They’re uneducated idiots, which is why they’re low income earners. Oh, I suppose we could foreclose and then turn around and rent the houses back to them, but that seems so unjust, and what would the taxpayers do with all of those titles, anyway?

Oh, I know that there are hardworking Americans who live by the rules. They’re the ones who have had their hours cut back or are unemployed due to layoffs and reasons not of their own making. They can’t make their mortgage payments? Isn’t that just too damned bad? We can’t help them because they play by the rules, so they don’t qualify for help. And, because they had nothing to say about the mess or the bailout in the first place, they must be the ones to blame. They’re certainly to blame for trying to stop the bailout, so let them suffer?

Finally, there’s a Presidential candidate who was intricately involved with ACORN in teaching them how to sign up people to buy the houses and how to pressure the banks and mortgage companies into funding the loans and he was soooo successful at it. Let’s reward him and make him President so that he can cover all of this crap up before any subpoenas starting flying.

What a nice and tidy, neat little package we have. So, my fellow Americans, keep on living your lives with your heads up your asses and remember to go to the polls on Election Day and vote those nice Members of Congress back in.

I'LL TAKE THE BLAME FOR BAILOUT FAILURE

I'm an American. I'm the little guy in the street with just one vote. I'm the guy who has earned my own way and paid my own bills throughout my life. I'm the guy who pays my taxes on time, and I'm the guy who will quietly dry up and blow away, one of these days.

I'm also the guy who called and emailed my Congressman and told him he'd better not vote to bail your sorry asses out of this mess at my expense or I'd have his job on election day. And, I meant it when I said it.

So, don't blame my Representative. Blame me.

I, for one, am fed up, sick, and downright pissed off at the last twenty years because, with one exception, all the Congress of the United States has done is fight, bicker, carp at each other and the President, (whoever it was), lie, cheat, steal and have sexual orgies and expensive junkets on my dollar.

With one exception, you have never worked together or stood together on behalf of the American people. That one exception was on September 11, 2001, a day when you stood together and worked together for us. One damned day in 20 plus years, and what a day it was.

You slept at the switch. You didn't bat an eye when the warning signs started to pop up. And, when the walls came tumbling down, you are the ones who had the collective audacity in your hallowed Senate halls to tell us to shut up, fork over the money, bail out your sorry asses and to be grateful because you were going to save us from your ineptitude, laziness, and louzy job performance.

Yes, I'm the one to blame. I'm the one who tried to contact my Representative by email during the day of September 29 to thank him for finally listening to the heartbeat of America and you're the ones who shut the Congressional email system down so that I couldn't do it. Not one word of apology for this mess did I hear from your mealy mouth. Not one word of American spirit, such as "Let's work together to find a good way to deal with this, and move on together to keep it from happening again."

What I did hear was carp, carp, carp. Bitch, bitch, bitch. Hurry up and bail us out.

If you had any shame at all for this mess, you'd resign. But, you have no shame. You now turn it upside down into a war of strict politics between the two parties in a desperate attempt to turn our attention away from the fact that, regardless of party, you need to be replaced.

And, so it comes out that Congress, which has been blaming the Bush Administration for the financial crisis, has actually been warned consistently since 2001 that something needed to be done, particularly with respect to Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. And so it is that they pooh-pahhed the warnings and buried their heads, and our wallets in the sand.

And here we are, in a Chinese fired drill all ready to shove $700 billion out of the halls of Congress to make the problem go away.

We need to make Congress go away.

Replace them all in November.

Go for it.

THE HORSE IS OUT OF THE BARN! WHO DID IT?

After the Great Depression, Congress passed several pieces of legislation designed to split up the banks from the insurance companies from the stock investment companies and so forth. There was great complicity between these companies in the dynamic forces that created the situation where the Great Depression could, and did, occur.

These same restrictions were subsequently undone in recent years and here we are, facing the same ugly threat. Who did it? Congress. At whose suggestion and request? Those same banks, investment companies and stock companies.

Congress has an oversight committee that is supposed to monitor what is going in with the economy not only in our country, but world wide as well. Greenspan went to the Hill on a regular basis to report, as Bernacke does now. And, the committee has oversight with the Secretary of the Treasury and the myriad of regulatory agencies under his, (Paulson's), control. These regulatory agencies did not do their jobs, or this situation could not have become the national emergency that it is now.

Now, you can lay the blame on all three parties, as far as I am concerned, being Congress, the companies, and Treasury. They collectively either allowed or conspired to have these things, these lacks of good sense and management, to occur. They know it and have already tried to justify it by saying that they were trying to help the economy grow, blah blah.

To the FBI who is now stepping in to investigate, I say "follow the money trails." To Bush, I say "Fire Bernacke." To the American people, I say fire Congress. Vote the incumbents out and tell the new Congress to restrict these companies from doing each others business, and doing the American taxpayer at the same time. Prohibit insurance companies from being bankers and prohibit investment companies from selling insurance, and so forth.

Get back to the basics.

THE BLAME BELONGS IN WASHINGTON

Paulson has the audacity to lay the blame on people before him, on the failures of Congress to do their jobs... everywhere except at his desk. He alludes that the situation "could have been much worse. We're lucky."

Here is the classic example of bullshit in government. He has the audacity to demand of Congress that they do what he says immediately. He's the alarmist long after the alarm should have been sounded, and he's the guy who supposedly had his hands on the pulse of things all along. He's allowed the buildings to burn halfway to the ground before he sounded the alarm bell.

Paulson has to go. And so should the whole damned Congressional Committee....BEFORE they rush headlong into "emergency" decisions like a bunch of used car salesman with a carlot full of customers.

Paulson says that the regulatory system is broken and needs to be fixed because it is outdated.

They have had at least eight years to recognize that and fix it; why does it have to come to this crisis before they now say, "It's broken and needs to be fixed?"

Not only is the current administration trying to spin itself out of the responsibility for this, but no one has yet mentioned Congress which had oversight. Congress has been too busy dong nothing but bickering for at least 20 years to have caught this?

If we want change, we need to get rid of every single person in Congress.

I've waited 24 hours to digest the news of the bailouts and to hear what the pundits and politicos have to say.

The fact that investors knew the risks when they invested and that they received better rates of return because of the risks, and that the taxpayers are now assuming those risks, means to me that the investors profited without risk and at the expense of the taxpayers.

The fact that the government is now placing the risk of corporate enterprises on the taxpayer's back means to me that we virtually have a communistic form of government where we share in everything whether we want to or not.

With some great difficulty, I can accept Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac backing by the Fed's. If the government is going to use our money to support, at its own choosing and with no rules for fairness in the game, bailouts of this or that banking, insurance or investment company, then Goddammit they need to bail my ass out, too!

WE NEED TO GET RID OF EVERY DO-NOTHING, TAKE-EVERYTHING WASHINGTON POLITICIAN AND BUREAUCRAT AND WE NEED TO DO IT IN NOVEMBER. VOTE CONGRESS ALL OF THE WAY OUT... FIRE THE TOP AGENCY BOSSES.

This mess is pure, unadulterated donkey and elephant crap.

WHO’S TO BLAME FOR THE ECONOMY?

Several months ago, I started asserting that the economy is in increasingly bad shape. I even suggested that the downturn might last for as long as several years before it turns around. I was absolutely ostracized.

Here we are, a few months later, and the economy has sucked up several major banks, investment companies, Fanny Mae, Freddie Mac, and Countrywide. Bush on Monday finally pulled his head out of the sand and admitted that the economy is having problems, but stressed that it is still “strong.” Both Presidential candidates acknowledged that the economy needs fixing. Yet, the spin seems to continue: “If you want to have good times, you need to expect down times.” Horse…..manure.

What’s worse is that some major banks are gobbling up smaller financial firms that are in trouble. Bank of America has gobbled up so much that it, itself, must now be on much less stable ground. This sounds very precarious to me. I don’t want to be the harbinger of bad news, but this all sounds like “pre-depression” stuff to me. And, there’s no easy fix, either.

What is the real problem here?

Energy and big oil and the stubborn unwillingness of Congress to deal with it are fundamentally to blame. In fact, if you will study the events leading up to the “Big Depression,” you’ll find that you had a few big banks controlling the finances of the country; they were in the mortgage business and they were in the stock business. Congress split them up as part of solving the issues. You also had a few big oil companies, Standard Oil for one, controlling oil, natural gas…even coal. Does this sound familiar?

Congress went on vacation in the midst of the highest gas prices in history. Pelosi refused pleas from both sides of the House to attack the issue before going on vacation and left the House members standing on their thumbs as she literally headed for the airport. Now that they’re back in session, are they addressing the issue? Hell no. It’s election time, remember? No Congressional member is going to make any waves about anything, especially big oil; they need those campaign donations to keep on coming!

With energy prices up, people quit spending. Layoffs started and unemployment kicked off. The cost of goods delivered by truck escalated, tightening the family belts ever further. Risky loans went immediately into default and the good loans are now following. Gas prices have not gone down to any appreciable degree and, as long as the oil industry remains monopolistic and unpunished, they are certain to go up again, sooner rather than later. By all accounts, new oil sources will not come on line for at least seven to ten years, and everyone also agrees that alternative energy sources will have no impact for at least that long, either.

With oil being the initiating bandit, are we not looking at seven to ten more years of this financial quagmire?

Consumer spending is down and credit card debt is up. The declining availability of credit to the consumer is undoubtedly a contributing factor to the slow up in spending. But, could it also be that Americans are finally realizing that their continued quest for more, bigger and better has led them into a financial abyss. This could portend a funadamental change in the way the American economy works...a change that could cause the unemployment rates to push up into the double digits by the end of 2009.

Or, is the oil industry really to blame? They may have started it, but Washington has clearly refused to do anything about it except to give it lip service and to turn to us, as taxpayers, to pay for it…. So we get the “double whammy.” It inevitable that we are going to have to increase taxes at some point in order to pay for all of these “bailouts.” That, my friend, will most certainly only prolong the bad economic news.

Think about that when you step into the voting booth to cast your ballot for any incumbent.

WHO’S TO BLAME FOR OBAMA’S EVIDENT LACK OF PATRIOTISM?

Obama is whining again. “They keep harping on my Muslim connections. They’re always mentioning my middle name. I AM NOT A Muslin, never have been a Muslim, never been in a Mosque. I’m a Christian, pure and simple.” Well, the facts suggest otherwise. But, that’s not my real concern here. Obama’s father was Muslim, he was raised as a Muslin, he went to Mosque…until he was three or four years old. I don’t know that he attends Mosque now and I do not believe, based on what I know, that he is a practicing Muslim today. So, why does he deny his childhood? That’s what bothers me.

It is a fundamental flaw in your character to deny your childhood. It is scary when, as a candidate for the Presidency of the United States, you deny your childhood and you deny access to information about your life, such as college transcripts. He says he attended Columbia, but he won’t provide transcripts. Why?

Here’s the man who claims to be a Christian, who attended church in Jeremiah Wright’s congregation and participated in the anti-American rantings and ravings of his pastor, who denied that he did those things, and who belittles those in Scranton who cling to their religion and guns. He includes in his known listing of acquaintances and friends one William Ayers who blew up the World Trade Center in the first go-around, and Louis Farrakhan, “Supreme Minister of the Nation of Islam.”

He whines again when we question his patriotism. But, it is not “we” who refused to place his hand over his heart during the Pledge of Allegiance or the playing of the Star Spangled Banner. It is not “we” who refused to wear an American Flag on his lapel. It is not “we” who denigrated the seal of the Presidency and converted it to his own image. And, it is not “we” who removed the American flag from his private campaign jet.

I do know one thing. I don’t like people who play “smoke and mirrors,” or who play me for a sucker. And I sure would be mad as hell if this candidate were elected and chose to insist on using the Koran and the flag of Islam at his swearing in.

Labor Department Confirms Retaliatory Firing in Violation of Anti-Pollution Laws

Washington, DC - A federal review panel has ruled that the U.S. Bureau of Land Management illegally dismissed a manager overseeing the cleanup of the Anaconda Mine for raising serious worker safety, as well as serious radiation, air and water pollution problems, according to a final order released today by Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility (PEER). This decision represents a rare pro-whistleblower verdict from Bush administration appointees.

Earle Dixon, the Project Manager for the Anaconda Mine at Yerington, Nevada, clashed with top Bureau of Land Management (BLM) officials for raising issues that were being ignored because they would drive up clean-up costs and raise political hackles. As a result, BLM removed Dixon from his position in October 2004, one day before his probationary period ended, over objections of his direct supervisors.

Following a hearing before a federal administrative law judge, Dixon was awarded back pay, $10,000 in moving expenses, attorney fees and costs. That ruling has now been affirmed by the Secretary of Labor's Administrative Review Board.

The Anaconda Mine is an abandoned copper mine covering more than 3,600 acres where acid run-off and waste rock containing low levels of uranium, thorium and other toxic metals have been deposited in unlined ponds. The mine has also had a succession of owners, including, most recently, the Atlantic Richfield Company owned by British Petroleum. Dixon pursued persistent clean-up failings, including -

• Radiation readings well above background levels that pose risks to the health of workers onsite;
• Higher than expected contamination of soil, groundwater and drinking water wells; and
• Non-compliance with a number of federal pollution standards, including public and worker exposure to radioactive and toxic metals in air-borne dust.

"I'm glad to have this vindication and achieve closure on this matter," stated Earle Dixon, who continues to oversee toxic clean-up operations for a state agency. "Significantly, the Board found the true reason behind BLM's retaliation and recalcitrance was to avoid sampling that would show mine operations profoundly contaminated soil and water with acid, metals, and radionuclides."

The substance of Dixon's concerns was validated when the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency stepped in and took control of the site in 2005, shortly after Dixon was removed, under the Superfund law.

"It has taken Earle Dixon nearly four years to win some small measure of justice in a system that is clearly broken," commented PEER Executive Director Jeff Ruch, whose organization litigated the case with Dixon's lead counsel, Mick Harrison. "The federal government desperately needs more courageous public servants like Earle Dixon in its ranks."

The ruling for Dixon is also notable because under President Bush, the U.S. Labor Department has become a graveyard for the vast majority of eco-whistleblower complaints.

If you don’t mind my asking, what really IS the most important news of the day?

BLM TO BLAME - EARLE DIXON WINS CASE: Breaking News

Four years ago, I was embroiled in a bitter battle with BP ARCO, the BLM, the State of Nevada, and a Lyon County Commissioner over the Yerington Anaconda Copper Mine site. I was then the Tribal Manager for the Yerington Paiute Tribe and I had deep concerns about the mine site and its potential for negative impact upon the lives of Paiutes who lived on the Campbell Ranch Reservation, about three miles to the North and downstream of the mine site.

The mine site had been shuttered for several years following the bankruptcy of the then operating company called Arimetco. The tribe was trying to get the mine cleaned up from an environmental standpoint, but efforts had basically stalled when I arrived in December of 2002. The then Chairman, Elwood Emm, told me about their concerns and the then Tribal EPA Director, Duane Masters Sr., took me on a tour of the mine site. I was hooked.

It wasn't long before I discovered that the mine site was permeated with enriched uranium and radioactive cadmium that was leaching into the groundwater below the site. This was a matter that had been acknowledged, proven, and covered up through an elaborate networking of local and state officials. For many reasons, one of which is the fact that they bought the site from Anaconda, BP ARCO has a fundamental legal obligation to resolve the matter and they denied, denied, denied.

The Bureau of Land Management is part-owner of mine site lands and has a dual obligation. One is as a part-owner of a contaminated mine site, and the other is as a trustee of public lands. They hired a small crew of technicians to evaluate the site from an environmental standpoint, and one of those was Earle Dixon.

Part Cherokee Indian himself, Dixon was sympathetic to the Paiute dilemma. Dixon and I became friends and I was by then writing a column for the local newspaper, the MASON VALLEY NEWS. The column took the local "GOB" network to task over its stand on the mine site and fired off many volleys against BP ARCO.

It was at about this period of time in 2005 that Dixon pinpointed extremely high radiation on the mine site. BLM attempted to cover it up, but I carried the news in my column. A Lyon County Commissioner demanded that the tribe fire me, which did not happen. But the Council, fearing local political ramifications, did insist that I quit writing for the newspaper. That ignited a firestorm of public interest in getting at the facts.

I was by then concerned that the radiation was in the ground water and that the ground water was flowing under reservation lands. BP ARCO vehemently denied it and insisted that even if this were the case, that water under the mine site was contaminated, ground water only flowed at 1-3 feet per year at it could not possibly have migrated to the reservation.

Dixon discovered evidence that the groundwater was, in fact, contaminated. BP ARCO and Nevada State Environmental officials immediately claimed that the uranium in the groundwater was naturally occurring, flowing from the alluvial fan of nearby mountains and had nothing to do with the mine site. It was about this time that the BLM Director, Bob Abbey, demanded that Dixon's boss fire him. The boss refused, so the Director transferred Dixon's supervision from Carson City to the Reno office and fired Dixon himself.

The excuse for Dixon's firing was that his tenure was almost finished anyway and that his job performance was substandard, (inspite of the fact that Dixon had recently had a performance review that rated him as an "outstanding" employee.) Dixon claimed his firing was done because he was a "whistle blower" and that he was protected by law from being fired. The legal battle was under way.

In the meantime, I mentioned at a mine stakeholder's meeting that I was concerned that the water under reservation lands was already contaminated. The Lyon County Commissioner, a State Assemblyman, the Nevada EPA, and BP ARCO were quick to question my scientific basis but, in the process, I cornered them into conducting more water tests and I was proven to be correct. While denying that the contamination was coming from the mine site and insisting that it was naturally occurring, BP ARCO immediately started providing free bottled water to everyone living north of the mine site.

Dixon had an internal administrative hearing with the BLM and lost his case. He then appealed for a hearing with an Administrative Law Judge. The Judge ruled that the Commission, the Nevada Governor, the Nevada EPA Director, a Nevada State Senator and others had conspired to force the Federal BLM Director for Nevada, Bob Abbey, to fire Dixon and that Dixon had been telling the truth about what was going on at the mine site from a chemical and environmental standpoint. Indeed, some of the participants in the hearing were caught lying about what they knew and instructions they had given or been given. The BLM immediately appealed that ruling.

I left Yeringtion in June of 2006 to take a more lucrative job with another tribe, and those I left behind largely let their concern wane. Lyon County hired a public relations firm to pooh-pah the idea that the mine site was contaminated, and the USEPA official who had taken oversight of the mine assessment and cleanup was transferred to another project.

Finally, Earle Dixon has heard from his attorney that he won his case and the BLM will not further appeal the decision.

It's too early, of course, to tell what this ruling will mean, but I just might decide to get involved again. We'll see.

WE'RE NOT TO BLAME FOR NEW RUSSIAN AGGRESSION

There have been several stories told about how Georgia is not blameless in the recent and on-going invasion of their country. The latest news out of the Kremlin is that Russia may soon take on Poland, and they are quick to add that it will be our fault because we are refusing to stop our missile defense program in that country. All of this is mixed in with belligerent, bullying threats about NATO.

The American left seems too quick to echo the Russian line. It's our fault. Building those systems is somewhat like the Cuban missile crisis, except that we're the wrongdoers this time. Georgia was mistreating Russian citizens in its disputed territories, and Russia therefore was obliged to step in. Tommyrot.

Any one who has ever bothered to study the history of Russian and Soviet aggression knows that they never invade without some pretext. Take the Georgian invasion, for instance. Did Putin protest to the United Nations that Georgia was misbehaving? Did he consult with world leaders over how to best handle his "concerns?" Certainly not. Russian simply invaded and laid out the storyline later.

In further examination of the situation, Russia agreed to withdraw from Georgia, which they have not done. In fact, they booby-trapped and mined the relatively small areas from which they did withdraw. These actions do not at all sound like the Russians are being the least bit forthright. Their threats to take on Poland indicate to me that the invasion is already in the planning stages, and the Ukraine would not be far behind.

Once the Soviet Union has been reassembled, I suppose everything is content to think that they will stop there. However, if you study the economic and energy issues of the area, you certainly would have to suspect that they would partner with Iran in a Middle East showdown, right smack dab on the border with Iraq. Of course, if we get our troops out of Iraq now, we won't have to be in the middle of it.

Putin craves power, and he was miffed at rising to the leadership of a much diminished Russian world influence. He is bound and determined to reassert Soviet power and military dominance on the European continent. These claims of American and Georgian wrongdoing simply provide him with the cover.... the pretext for his actions.

EDWARDS DESERVES A BREAK: He's Not To Blame

What has he done that other politicians haven't done...and gotten away with?

If others get away with it, then that makes it legal.

What politico has ever faced criminal charges over such a situation? I can't think of any.

So, John, as far as I'm concerned, you have a free pass on this one. Even if you did use public funds, PAC money, or other restricted funds, you've got nothing to sweat.

Oh... About the wife..........?

GEORGIA IS ON ITS OWN, TWISTING IN THE WIND: Who Is To Blame?

While Russian troops continue to pound Georgia with bombs, rockets, tanks and troops, the free world flaps at the gums. Congress, away on vacation to duck the energy issue, is not even in Washington to provide the traditional wringing of hands and finger-pointing. Bush, Rice and Gates stand in the Rose Garden and announce they are sending a plane full of "humanitarian supplies" to Georgia and they sternly warn Russia to let it land....As if to say, "Or else!"

Or else what? First of all, the humanitarian aid is probably going to get confiscated by the Russians as soon as it lands; their troops are already storming Gori, regardless of their pledges to cease fire. And then, as history will show, Russia is not likely to honor any promises it makes until it is damned good and ready to. In fact, history will show that the Georgian exercise is most likely just a ramp up and training exercise for future actions to re-consolidate the Soviet Union and further, that this was a Russian test of the will and ability of the free world to respond.

And here we sit, impotently flapping at the gums while the tanks roll on. What else can we do?

We have a decidedly weak President and administration that has royally screwed up in Iraq and maybe Afghanistan, we have a war-weary military stretched beyond thin with a budget to match, we are faced with Islamic Terrorism at every turn, and we have lost so much stature in the rest of the world that no one is really willing to step up to the plate and support us.

So, I guess the real question of the day is not what we're going to do about Georgia, or the Ukraine or anything else. The real question of the day is whether or not that child belongs to Edwards or not.

THE PHONE RINGS AT 3:00 AM: Obama Fails To Answer

Friday, August 8, 2008, Russia began to bomb and invade Georgia. Obama was on a plane to Hawaii.

Bush reacted from China with a timorous statement through a generic White House employee. McCain issued a statement calling for the immediate and unconditional withdrawal from Georgia by Russian troops and called for an emergency session of the United Nations. Obama fumbled the ball, simultaneously condemning the attack and saying everyone should sit down and talk. And, he showed who's the guy who cares about the situation by staying in Hawaii and sunning himself on the beach.

Now, of course, he's not President yet, so what could he do anyway? Given his lack of expertise on the subject and a national question as to whether or not he is prepared to take the Presidential reins, I would think he'd want to calm the jittery nerves of the world by either flying back to the mainland or by flying some top, key advisers and staff down to join him in Hawaii to "bring him up to date on the situation." He didn't.

One can only surmise that he is too arrogant, doesn't care what people think, or in the hands of totally incompetent campaign staff. He has indicated to me, at least, that his response to national emergencies is going to be weak and fainthearted, somewhat like what we had in the Jimmy Carter years.
