THE DEMISE OF AMERICAN JOURNALISM?

Just so you know and understand why I'm so down on the American news media and press, CNN's Fredricka Whitfield said Saturday that the acts of the gunman in the Dallis Police Station shooting were "courageous and brave."

Now, that's beyond the pale.

But, CNN had no retraction and no apology.  In fact, it was a full day before anyone said anything, and that includes not only CNN, but also virtually every other news outlet in the country.  In other words, I guess all of the national media and press agreed with her.  It was only after an outrage in social media that the matter was addressed by anyone.

Sunday,  Whitfield said, “Yesterday, during a segment on the Dallas Police Department attack, I used the words 'courageous' and 'brave' when discussing the gunman. I misspoke.  I in no way believe the gunman was courageous nor brave."  No apology was made, no explanation as to why she chose those words.

It's not like she's the new kid on the block, either.  She was at NBC for several years prior to starting with CNN in 2002.  So, she knows what to say about things and how to say it.

Is true, honest and responsible journalism in America totally dead?
