It's unbelievable, but true: all of the sudden when faced with mounting legal pressure from the courts and independent lawsuits to have Lois Lerner's hard drive examined to see if data could be recovered, the I.R.S. yesterday said it had not been recycled or destroyed as previously claimed. But... the drive has been scratched.
Anyone who knows anything about hard drives in computers knows they don't get scratched while in a computer; it would have to be physically removed from the computer and either taken apart and scratched or dropped onto a hard concrete floor; either act would be deliberate.
Their tech people now say they may be able to recover her "lost" emails after all, but they have not turned the drive over to any independent experts. This leaves the door wide open for another deliberate cover-up and obstruction of evidence. Some emails could be deleted now, while others are not or the hard drive could be further damaged. It should definitely not be left in the hands of the IRS.
As for the backup tapes that may or may not still exist, there is no further news on this as of post time. One thing is certain: someone at the IRS has something big, big, big to hide and my hunch is whaetever is being hidden goes straight to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW.
And we allow this bull to continue, so who really IS to blame?
