A group of 38 media outlets fired off a letter to Obama last week highlighting a pattern of stonewalling, attempts at media manipulation and control, and restricted
access – all of which, the letter accuses, amounts to “a form of
censorship.” The letter went into some details, citing specific examples of abuse of the media and the public trust.
This has been responded to by the new Press Secretary, Whosits Whatshisface, asserting that the Obama Presidency is the most transparent in American history.
There have been many times in recent years when I have been ashamed to call myself a journalist. The willingness of the media and press to play the role of Presidential puppet is to blame for a vast majority of the problems we face today; had Americans been properly told the truth, had investigative journalism done its job. there would not have been a second Obama term.
Perhaps the seeds of reality have finally been planted in the White House Press Room.
